All Private Schools Better than Public Schools

Schools

I did my schooling from a renowned private school. My friends used to make fun of the students who were studying in public schools then. Once we went to a science debate that was held in Dehradun. Students from different schools of the state participated in the seminar. I found it awful when my fellow class mates challenged a student of a public school that he didn’t stand any chances of winning the debate since he doesn’t belong to a good school. But, the colors of my friends’ faces changed into deep red out of shame when the group that came from the public school was declared to be the winner.

Well, it was not the fault of my friend because in India people think that students who belong to public schools are either from a poor family background or the environment of the public schools demand modernity; whereas, the majority of people feel those with a private school or a missionary school background to be the ideal in terms of academics and social etiquette.

The fight between private school and public school seems to be an unending one but before going to draw any conclusion we should first comprehend the difference between private schools and public schools.

The schools that have been established by individuals or a small group of individuals without taking any financial support from the government start under government schools. They are controlled by the individuals or group of individuals under a trust. On the other hand, Public schools are run and administered either fully or partially by the government or by the individual or group of individuals who have founded the school. There are certain features of both public and private schools. Public schools are established in nearly each part of the country up to the secondary level. On the other hand, private schools are mostly acquirable in the cities and towns and offer education from primary level to senior secondary level. It has been supported by many surveys that the qualities of education offered in private schools are superior than public schools. But it would be wrong to state that each student of a public school is absent with regard to knowledge because students from public schools have won many prizes in competitions of private school students and students of public schools. The phrase ‘students make schools, but schools do not make students’ is applicable here.

But it is also a fact that, in private schools, care is more taken for the students as compared to public schools. In public schools of India, absenteeism of instructors is a major issue. And, the student attending is also very low in comparison to private schools. Moreover, strict code of discipline is maintained in the private school which is just the opposite in public schools. Private schools involve the students in many activities which students of public school do not get a hint of. These are some of the differences between public schools and private schools.

It is known to each individual that private schools are superior for kids to acquire calibre education. But, is it the fault of kids who are the students of a public school that they should be embarrassed by others for their educational background? Who do you think is responsible to be embarrassed for the condition of such schools; the students, the instructors or the government?
